Grooved Pipes

Introduction

The grooved piping system has been around for over 80 years, providing the most versatile, economical and reliable piping system available. It is easier, faster and safer to install than normal welding, threading or flanging pipes resulting in lower installation and labor costs.

The standards for the grooved pipes were established in 1978 by American Water Works Association (AWWA) and codified as ANSI/AWWA C-606. There are four basic components in the system:

Installation Technique:
Based on simple and highly effective design of pipe joint, two identical clamps fully enclose a specially designed pressure activated rubber sealing ring and key into a collar formed on the pipe end by grooving, providing the joint with end-load bearing capabilities. During assembly the gasket is slightly stretched over the A dimension of the pipe O.D and the clamp compresses the gasket with the help of nuts & bolts. The final sealing factor is the pressure (or vacuum) in the line. Internal pressure tends to press the lips more securely onto the pipe O.D reinforces the seal giving reliability of operation upto 5 Mpa. This clamp feature makes jointing convenient and superior to threaded joints and have number of advantages over conventional piping systems present.

100% zinc coated to minimum 500 gm/m2, no room for rust.

Being lighter, better cross-sectional flow through the pipes.
Considerable savings in transportation and handling costs.
